Life’s rubbish, love’s garbage; a man’s bane or boon?

It is often said that humans are only as smart as their age made them to be but how true is this? Sometimes, you thought that you knew something that others don’t and as such you are almighty and you could take on the world with your own hands. However, the world isn’t that kind and simple and it would never turn out to be like those soap dramas and cartoons you watch over the television. Truth be told, we live in a very strange and weird world and believe me, it can mess up your life’s direction and turn your world upside down in a flash. And here I thought that all I had to do right at this part of life was to just study hard, play hard, get a degree at the end and look for a wonderful job and everything would be great! But of course, it was never that easy and through some casual dinner chats with a couple of mature, experienced and grizzled old guys in their late twenties had taught me some important life’s lessons. Right after I cameback from the dinner (McDonald’s @ Centrepoint with my Boss and his best friend [Pin & Yow Chuan]), I had my very short shower and it’s amazing how one can find some refuge and silence to think through things while showering. There were so many things that were going through my head in that short 8 to 10 minutes shower I had and that lead me to some conclusion over what we’ve talked about during the dinner.

It’s simply astonishing to see that a simple chat regarding someone’s relationship can evolve into a potential business prospect towards the end of the conversation. This truly shows how business-minded people think and feel and as such, they made use of their abilities to analyse and decide on a proper action in their everyday decision-making moments and that’s not to say that simple decisions like choosing an apple pie over a banana pie is excluded from their calculations. In fact, they are so entrepreneur-like that they can even formulate ideas and create algebraic equations to show how relationships works and solving relationship problems. As a result, from listening to their theories and formulaes on ‘how/what a girl’s thinking?’ to ‘why she does what she does?’, I was amazed and at the same time intrigued to know more. Of course, they wouldn’t be able to chat so easily on these things if they didn’t have any experience and therefore, we should never underestimate what someone who has ’seen’ and ‘heard’ more than you do in your lifetime says because words that comes out from their mouth could either make or break you.

Many people have always thought that working life can be almost mundane and dull but from what I’ve heard and seen today, we can not simply believe what others say. The way my superior acts in the workplace simply amazes me and I was thinking, maybe this guy was crazy afterall but then, we as humans do need some excitement in our lives or we would just die from life’s harshness. My office boss was crazy enough to bring over his new bought bike and rode around in the small office. It was truly an amazing sight to behold. Never had I seen anyone so, extraordinary in my life. I must say that he was the one that made me started thinking over my life’s priorities and also changed my mindset on how certain things work in life. Through our joyous chats over mealtimes, I was able to see things from a bird’s eye view. I could see things in greater detail and I became less narrow minded. He began on how he used to see internship students coming over to work for him and never enjoyed their time there and he began a mission to make them understand that life isn’t just about coming out from college or university and work as an employee with a fixed salary and bonuses at the end of the year. He wants them to understand that we have to think about our future, think ‘long-term’ meaning thinking with ‘hindsight’. We have to realize that working as employee in the future are like robots and humans can never advance that way regardless of whether it’s financially or relationship-wise. We have to always come up with a business plan that would rock the world in the future just like what they did today. According to him, that’s his mission now (to change teenagers’ mindset on what’s the meaning of working ‘like a slave’ or working for yourself and enjoying it at the same time).

Due to their experienced entrepreneur mind and their many experiences in relationships, we had a wonderful time during our dinner at McDonald’s Centrepoint as both of them cracked some jokes that were incredibly relevant to what they were talking about, in a not-so-serious tone, what someone should do to make sure a relationship lasts forever. Initially, their formulaes and ideas were sort of unacceptable but when I cameback and thought about it in the shower, it kind of clicked and made some sense. They believed that a relationship could only be successful and lasts for a long time if both the guy and the girl never tolerates each other. According to them, if tolerance were given by one party, the other party will begin to gain in confidence and knew that he/she is in control of the situation. If this keeps on, and if there was a third party coming in to disrupt the harmony, the confident person will be brave enough to break the relationship due to the tolerance and care given by the other ‘timid’ party. As I pondered this, I found out this to be true in certain situations as I’ve experienced it myself too although, I believed I was the ‘timid’ party. However, through this dinner chats, I was able to find out that humans are an interesting species. Why do I say so? Humans are a fragile race as our hearts can be easily broken in a thousands pieces if we’re not careful and knowing that fact, we still look for relationships, love, trust and family and are willing to take the risk that comes along with it. If you seriously think about it, it is quite a high price to pay for wanting to be loved but your hearts to be broken by someone. And from that topic onwards, Pin and Yow Chuan began chatting animatedly on how they can start writing e-books regarding relationships because of their extensive knowledge. From there, they could start an online business by first building a blog and start driving in traffic and feedbacks and from there, they start to write their very first book and sell it off for a certain price. Seriously, these two bosses of mine are very very unique in their behaviour, thoughts and actions. And before I end off here, I’ll leave you guys to ponder upon this philosophical question: Life’s rubbish, love’s garbage; a man’s bane or boon? Cheers!

Wah very deep also, I read twice and make sure I don’t miss anything. Never thought that a McD meal can bring so much of change to someone, maybe next time we got to try KFC (C means Change).

Anyway, it is still good to know how and what our conversation has inspired you in some way, but it is good that you know what you want to archieve in your life :)
