ManUtd 1 - 0 Roma

Roma lost once again when they visited Old Trafford for the Champions League group stage yesterday. Even though they lost, I personally felt that they thoroughly deserve at least a point because they were technically much better than the Red Devils. Nowadays, the Red Devils are constantly playing like the classic Italian style which is, the lame and useless defensive style. The idea is to control the game by keeping the pace of the game super duper slow and try to find gaps or loop holes of the opponent and deals the damage. These kind of play might be useful but it is definitely a very mundane and dull game for any fans! What ever happened to the old Red Devil’s famous free-flowing football style? There were only two players in Manchester United that really proved that they are the “gung ho” type and they are non other than Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney. Yesterday, as I was watching the game, I almost fell asleep because of the slow pace of the game and how they waited and waited just for a single chance to attack. Luckily enough though, Michael Carrick whom I always thought a worthless buy from Tottenham Hotspurs and a totally useless midfielder, he produced a magical attack that won a result for the team! It seems that he’s only really performing when he is up against Roma or maybe only Italian teams. His playing style should suit the Italian Serie A. Maybe that’s where he will excel. Anyways, because of him, and Nani making a superb one touch through pass that eventually fired home by Rooney. That was the moment I felt Manchester United was like the olden days with those free flowing football style. There were some edgy moments towards the end of the match but Roma couldn’t find a way to equalise and so, they left Old Trafford with an empty hand. Well, at least the Red Devils won again albeit a little bit disappointing. The 1 - 0 score line is getting irritating I must say! Let’s just hope that they are able to score more than 1 goal when they face Wigan Athletics this weekend.
*On a side note, let’s hope Ronaldo can perform well for the Wigan game because he is in my Fantasy Team in the Barclays Fantasy Premier League game. If you guys want to check out this interesting little game, visit this site here!
